Mohali:- Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Mayor of Mohali Kuljeet Singh Bedi accused Punjab Government of misusing government treasury and said that by spending about 10 crore rupees from Punjab School Education Board, about 4 lakh school bags and 2 lakh plastic covers have been prepared, on which picture of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been printed. He said that by doing so government has wasted 10 crore rupees.
Bedi disclosed that on one side government is sitting suppressing 400 crore rupees of Punjab School Education Board for printing of Punjab school books and not even one rupee is being released and on other side government has put additional burden of 10 crore rupees on Punjab School Education Board which is completely unjustified
Bedi claimed that these bags have been distributed to students of eleventh and twelfth class in government schools of Punjab, while in Chief Minister's Dhuri Assembly constituency given to students from sixth to twelfth class. He said that if this scheme was for whole Punjab then why separate benefit was given to Dhuri. Government should answer this.
He said that many months have passed since academic session started and most parents have already purchased bags for their children. At such time purpose of distributing bags is not to help students, but to do political publicity through picture of Chief Minister.
Bedi alleged that on one side government talks about taking loan and on other side crores of rupees are being spent on items with Chief Minister's photo with people's tax money. He said that wastage of government money in name of education should stop and government should make public details of entire expenditure.
