Chandigarh, November 7 - Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs and Power Shri Manohar Lal said that the objective of the 18th Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition is to provide better transport system and services to maintain ease in urban areas with the theme of Easy Mode of Traveling. In this conference, along with the suggestions made on a policy basis, commendable steps will be taken towards providing public services while bringing positive changes in the urban area.
The Union Minister was addressing after inaugurating the three-day 18th Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition held in Gurugram on Friday. He also took stock of the development exhibition showcasing urban development and mobility on the premises after inaugurating it.
Announcements under the implementation of new schemes focused on urban development
Shri Manohar Lal, while making three major announcements focused on the purpose of developing better infrastructure and facilitating the common man through his ministry, said that with the commencement of these, a new beginning of development will be seen. He announced that Delhi Metro International Limited-DMIL will be established, under which this agency will work towards the expansion of metro for countries other than India.
At the same time, a mass rapid transit system will be developed for which DMRC will be a partner. With this system, metros will be better connected to each other and with safety standards and cyber security system, safe transport facilities and services will work for the common man. Delhi Metro Rail Academy will be formed by the Ministry of Urban Affairs to bring quality improvements in metro service and to try new experiments.
With its formation, capacity building will be done at a faster pace and this center along with the Center of Excellence will provide a new direction with innovation in metro service. He said that there are many big convention centers in the national capital, but Gurugram, which is included in the big cities, also needs a convention center, in such a situation, he will work towards building a convention center equipped with state-of-the-art facilities here too, while holding discussions with Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini.
India is moving forward at the international level
Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal said that today, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving forward with self-reliance. By connecting transport networking, the country will be at the forefront in identifying itself as a developed nation by 2047 with the principle of Make in India. He said that positive changes are being made in the urban area as per the need. The government has full focus on transportation in the urban area. He said that India is currently ranked third in the world in providing metro services and in the next 3 years, we will leave America behind and join the leading countries. The Central Government is working to provide public facilities with new technology and through such conferences, we will work on innovation with the support of experts.

Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Mission Amrit, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Metro Rail Expansion, Electric Bus Service, Public Cycle System and Transit-oriented Development have given a new direction to urban transport in the country. He said that our aim is to create a transport system that is inclusive, environmentally friendly and meets the needs of all sections of the society.
Haryana is making good progress in the field of urban mobility. Haryana Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Raja Shekhar Vundru said at the conference that the state of Haryana is setting a good example of progress in the field of urban mobility. Dr. Vundru, while highlighting the importance of the conference, said that this conference provides a strong platform for collaboration between the government, industry, educational institutions and common citizens. During the program, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal also unveiled three important books. These included the Guidelines for Issuing Municipal Green Bonds in India, Edition 5 of the Green Urban Mobility Partnership Newsletter and the Guidance Document on Building Resilient E-Bus Ecosystem.
