Chandigarh, March 9:- Haryana Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Ranbir Gangwa said that a proposal to convert the existing tubewell system in Murthal village and its adjoining villages into canal water based water supply system is under consideration and its Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared.
Shri Ranbir Gangwa was replying to a question raised by Rai Vidhan Sabha MLA Mrs. Krishna Gehlawat during the Budget Session of the Vidhan Sabha. He said that water supply in Murthal area is being done through 3 tubewells. As per Census 2011, the population of Murthal village is 16,722, which is in line with the minimum population requirement of 10,000 people for providing sewerage system under Mahagram Yojana. However, this village was not notified under the Mahagram Yojana category earlier.
It is feasible to increase water supply and provide sewerage system in Murthal village under Mahagram Yojana and a detailed project report is being prepared. For declaring Murthal as a Mahagram village, it is also necessary for the Gram Panchayat to provide suitable land for construction of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and consent to take sewerage connection. After fulfilling both these requirements, an estimate will be prepared.
