Hoshiarpur: Under the leadership of President Ashwani Sharma 'Chhota', the Yuva Vahini Samiti distributed *prasad* (sanctified food)—consisting of *halwa* and black chickpeas—at Mata Chintpurni Chowk on the auspicious occasion of Sankranti. City Traffic In-charge Surinder Kumar Sharma attended the event, participated in the distribution of *prasad*, and extended greetings to everyone on the commencement of the holy month of Shravan.
Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that organizing *langar* (community kitchens) is an integral part of our culture and that the act of donating food holds great significance in our scriptures. He appealed to the members of any organization setting up a *langar* to ensure they pay attention to traffic management and their own safety while distributing food.
He noted that *langars* are set up to serve pilgrims along the Hoshiarpur-Mata Chintpurni route during the *Navratras* of the Shravan month, a time when a large number of people pass through the area. He urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules, warning that challans would be issued to violators; he asked everyone to cooperate fully with the traffic police to avoid any inconvenience.
He also appealed to voluntary organizations to assist the police in maintaining order during the fair. Ashwani Sharma 'Chhota' expressed his gratitude to everyone present. Attendees included Deepak Puri, Vikas Sharma, Rajesh Verma, Ladi Diwana, Karamjit, Tarsem Lal, Baljit Jeetu, Subhash Chandra, Surendra Sharma, Lal Singh, Lion Vijay Arora, and Bahal, among others.
