Patiala:- According to the guidelines of Dr. Balbir Singh, Health Minister, Punjab, the emphasis is on training every youth and citizen to act as "helping angels" by being prepared to ensure their own safety and assist victims during emergencies. To fulfill this objective, commendable efforts are being made by Medical Superintendent Dr. Vikas Goyal and Principal Mrs. Surinder Pal Kaur to train the nursing students of Mata Koushalya Hospital Nursing School to become helping angels for victims.
To this end, Sh. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer of the First Aid, Safety, and Health Awareness Mission and National Disaster Management expert, imparted crucial training to the students on keeping victims alive during sudden medical emergencies. This included training for heart attacks, angina pain, blue baby attacks, epileptic seizures, electric shocks, cardiac arrest, fainting, and shock, followed by practical exercises for the students.
Furthermore, Sh. Ram Saran from the Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell made students aware of traffic rules, healthcare, drug abuse, safety regulations, compliance with laws, duties, cyber security, kidnapping, and ways to avoid running away from home and falling into trouble.
Expressing gratitude, Principal Mrs. Surinder Pal Kaur and other lecturers stated that in today's times, every student, teacher, and citizen must acquire training in Disaster Management, Civil Defense, First Aid, CPR, use of fire safety cylinders, and victim rescue and transport. They emphasized forming Civil Defense Disaster Management teams in streets, neighborhoods, colonies, and institutions, and working alongside hospitals, fire brigades, and police personnel to save humanity.
Everyone prayed for world peace and brotherhood. It was highlighted that youth traveling abroad must undergo training in these subjects so that alongside their degrees, they possess the knowledge, capability, and practical skills to save precious lives. Lifesavers are also being honored every month in Patiala.
