Polio drops to be administered to 47906 children in Una district on June 28 362 booths set up

Una, June 24: Assistant Commissioner Vinay Modi held a meeting today (Wednesday) at the Regional Hospital auditorium with the Health Department and other relevant departments regarding the successful conduct of the National Pulse Polio Campaign. During the meeting, he discussed the campaign's preparations, action plan, and the responsibilities of various departments in detail.
The Assistant Commissioner stated that the Pulse Polio Campaign would be observed across the district on Sunday, June 28, with the aim of administering polio drops to every child up to the age of five. He noted that a target has been set to administer drops to 47,906 children across the district. To achieve this, 362 booths will be established, and drops will also be administered at 55 transit points. Additionally, 22 mobile teams will be active to reach children in remote and vulnerable areas.
He instructed the Health Department to ensure that no child is left out of the Pulse Polio drive. He specifically directed officials to identify and administer drops to all children living in slums, at construction sites, in temporary settlements, and among migrant laborer communities. He also emphasized the need to maintain a complete record of the children receiving the drops. He instructed all departments to discharge their responsibilities with full dedication to ensure the campaign's success, thereby keeping Una district completely polio-free.
Vinay Modi stated that polio administration centers would be set up at key locations—including the ISBT Una, the railway station, and main bus stands—to ensure that traveling children also receive the drops. Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and other Health Department staff will play an active role in this process. Polio drops will be administered at every booth from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. He stated that children who missed receiving polio drops for any reason would be administered the drops during a door-to-door drive on June 29 and 30, ensuring no child is left out.
Una Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verma informed that the campaign would also be conducted at designated locations—including government Ayurvedic hospitals, Anganwadi centers, and schools—where ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and Health Department staff would administer the polio drops.
The Assistant Commissioner appealed to the general public to extend their full cooperation to this national campaign and ensure that children up to the age of five receive the polio drops, thereby protecting future generations from a serious disease like polio.

**898 Educational Institutions and 84 Villages in Una District Declared Tobacco-Free Based on Established Criteria**
A meeting of the District-Level Tobacco Control Coordination Committee was held during the second session, presided over by Assistant Commissioner Vinay Modi. Officials from various stakeholder departments attended the meeting.
Detailed discussions took place regarding various issues and aspects of tobacco control. He directed the Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies departments to expedite the license issuance process.
He also called upon all stakeholder departments to discharge their respective roles in tobacco control responsibly and issued appropriate guidelines. He emphasized that obtaining a license for tobacco sales is mandatory and that the sale of loose *bidis* and cigarettes is strictly prohibited. He noted that 898 educational institutions and 84 villages in Una district have already been declared tobacco-free in accordance with established criteria.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma apprised the meeting that various tobacco control activities—such as establishing tobacco-free educational institutions and villages, and implementing tobacco vendor licensing—are being carried out in Una district.
District Programme Officer Dr. Ankit Chaudhary informed that a special tobacco control campaign was conducted during the months of May and June. During the campaign, district and block-level flying squads inspected compliance with COTPA 2003 and the Himachal Pradesh Act 2016 and issued challans to violators. The flying squads will continue to conduct surprise inspections in the future.
Officials and staff present at the meeting included WHO Consultant Dr. Niket, District Immunization Officer Dr. Richa Kalia, all Medical Officers, and Block Medical Officers from all blocks.
