Nawanshahr - Raj Kumar is a regular donor of blood component platelets and is dedicated to serving the needy through BDC Blood Centre. He continued his passion to fulfill the need of platelets for a patient by inspiring his talented son Ekman to donate platelets from him. Dr Ajay Bagga of BDC Blood Center has praised the spirit of a donor father inspiring his son to save the life of an unknown patient. He states that "platelets" are not stored for many days like "whole-blood". Platelets are obtained from a voluntary donor and released immediately based on the patient's need. The time for this donation also takes about one and a half hours. A portion of the blood is collected while the rest is returned to the donor's body. A medically approved donor can donate up to four times in a month. On behalf of BDC, Dr. Ajay Bagga and Manager Manmeet Singh have thanked Dani Raj Kumar and his son Ekman who are role models of perseverance to help others.
