Chandigarh: Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Director of Orthopedics and Robotic Joint Replacement at Park Hospital, Mohali, along with Dr. Anil Kapoor Vashishth, Senior Consultant in Orthopedics, highlighted recent advancements in robotic knee resurfacing surgery while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
Park Hospital is North India's second-largest super-specialty hospital network, comprising 17 hospitals, 4,160 beds, 900 ICU beds, 15 Cath Labs, 45 modular operation theaters, and a team of over 1,200 doctors.
Dr. Bhanu Pratap stated, "At Park Hospital, Mohali, we have successfully completed over 2,500 robotic knee replacement surgeries. To mark our anniversary, Park Hospital, Mohali, and Park Hospital, Panchkula, are offering robotic technology free of cost to all their patients until June 30. The objective of this initiative is to extend advanced healthcare services to every section of society."
He further noted that Park Hospital, Mohali, is the only hospital in the region equipped with a 'Robo-suite'—comprising Robo-3D, Robo-Eye, and Robo-Arm—which delivers unprecedented precision, efficiency, and superior treatment outcomes.
Dr. Bhanu also explained that previously, patients undergoing knee replacement surgery had to remain hospitalized for 3 to 4 weeks for the entire course of treatment. However, thanks to recent advancements in robotic surgery, we are now able to perform robotic knee replacement surgeries in just 12 to 15 minutes.
Dr. Anil Kapoor pointed out that there is a significant cost advantage to receiving medical treatment in India. While the cost of a hip replacement in the United States is approximately 57,000 USD, the same procedure—utilizing an identical implant—costs merely 7,000 USD in India. Ashish Chadha, Group CEO of Park Hospitals (North), stated, "Park Hospital Mohali is now empanelled with ECHS, CGHS, ESI, the governments of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, as well as all major TPAs ??and corporates.
