Nawanshahr- Red Cross Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Drug Victims of Nawanshahr organised an anti-drug awareness camp under "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" at Sri Guru Ravidas Gurudwara Sahib of village Ghuman. This camp was presided over by Mr. Sukhwinder Singh (Sarpanch).
On this occasion, Mr. Chaman Singh (Project Director) while addressing the villagers said that at present drug addiction has become a problem not only of Punjab but also of our country.
A large number of the country's young generation has been trapped in the trap of drugs. In which now school going children and girls have also started getting trapped in the trap of drugs. Due to this, the governments have also put in full effort to eliminate drug addiction from the country. Therefore, we all have to pay special attention to our children as to what they are doing.
Because it has been seen that school going children do not have any information about drugs, due to which they get trapped in the trap of drugs. Now we have to take care of our children ourselves, only then we can keep them away from drugs. He made the youth aware of drug abuse and also explained in detail about the diseases caused by drug abuse.
He said that to end any evil, we have to start from our home, so let us all together be a part of the campaign launched by the Punjab Government against drug abuse, make Punjab drug free and make people aware of drug abuse so that we can save our young generation.
Mrs. Kamaljit Kaur (Counselor) also shared detailed information about the treatment of patients in the center that any drug addict can stay in the center for one month as per his wish and get free treatment, because drug addiction cannot be cured by staying at home, to get rid of drug addiction, it is necessary to reach psychiatrists and de-addiction centers.
On this occasion, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh (Sarpanch) made the villagers aware of drug abuse and said that we all should follow the suggestions given by the Red Cross team, so that we can also make the villagers aware of drug abuse.
He thanked the Red Cross team and assured that they will continue to organize anti-drug awareness camps in the future. Gurdev Singh, Gobind Lal, Sukhjeevan Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Chindo, Jasveer Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur and villagers were present on this occasion.
