Karnal, December 12: The Karnal Municipal Corporation's enforcement team carried out another surprise action against property tax defaulters. On Friday, the enforcement team arrived to initiate attachment proceedings against six commercial properties in the city.
To avoid the attachment proceedings, the concerned property owners paid Rs. 14,80,480 in property tax on the spot and at the municipal corporation office. This information was given by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma. Giving details of the action, she said that attachment proceedings were to be initiated against six properties on Friday.
As soon as the municipal corporation's enforcement team arrived to seal the defaulting properties, panic spread among the shopkeepers. Seeing the team's strict stance, they had no choice but to pay the outstanding property tax. During this time, three defaulters paid the property tax on the spot, and three others paid it at the municipal corporation office, thus avoiding the attachment proceedings.
These property owners paid property tax on the spot: During the attachment proceedings, three property owners paid the property tax on the spot. These included M/s Anmol Agencies at Kalandari Gate, property tax Rs. 491090; 339, Sector-3, Agriplast Tech India Private Limited, property tax Rs. 274744; and 191, Career Computers, Sector-3, property tax Rs. 342474, which were paid to the enforcement team.
These property owners paid property tax at the municipal corporation office: To avoid property attachment proceedings, three property owners paid the property tax at the municipal corporation office. These included a car washing center in Sector-7, with property tax of Rs. 283,000, 198 C, Model Town, with property tax of Rs. 48,926, and Newlife Store, Model Town, with property tax of Rs. 40,246, which have now been paid.
Despite the notices, no attention was paid - He stated that three notices each were issued to all the above property owners regarding the collection of property tax. After this, attachment notices were also issued to them personally, but the property owners did not take it seriously, due to which action was taken to attach the said properties.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Abhay Singh was appointed as the duty magistrate to carry out the action, while Regional Taxation Officer Ankush Parashar, Tax Superintendent Gagandeep Singh, municipal staff, and police force were present.
