Hoshiarpur: The truth of life is that death comes to every human being on a destined day, but we should not be afraid. The breaths given to us by the Almighty are necessary to sustain this body today and tomorrow. In this world, a person lives for themselves and their family. However, there are some people who dedicate every breath, by the grace of the Almighty, to saving the lives of others.
Today, in a special meeting, social worker and organ donation in-charge from Tanda, Bhai Varinder Singh Masiti, said, "The Almighty gave me these breaths so that I could do something in this world. The duty of humanity is that this body or its organs should reach the needy after my death. This gives me peace of mind. I have been telling people throughout my life to donate blood. I am 65 years old and have donated blood 13 times. I don't know who received my blood because I have been donating it as a command from the Almighty. I will continue to come forward for blood donation and will make others aware and encourage them to donate as well; this is my life's journey."
He continued, "It has been 26 years; I ride a bicycle for hundreds of kilometers every day to meet the needy and raise awareness. I believe that death is certain, so there is no need to fear it. I have never panicked in my life, nor have I ever scared anyone. If death is to come, let it come—there is no calamity in it. I needed breaths to keep this body alive; if the Almighty takes these breaths back and calls it death, I will thank Him."
Bhai Masiti also appealed from the heart to his friends and family, saying, "When my body leaves this world, I appeal to my friends and relatives to donate both my eyes from this same body. I request doctors to take out whatever organs are suitable and give them to the needy. The people who have received my organs are finding a new light and support in their lives. The person who can now see has a life a hundred times better than before. They will also be grateful to the Almighty who ensured my eyes were donated to remove the darkness from their life. Through corneal transplantation, they have got a chance to see the world; I am blessed for this." He expressed his gratitude to doctors, organizations, charitable trusts, club presidents, panchayat members, and everyone whose cooperation made this possible.
Bhai Masiti concluded by saying that the body given by the Almighty should be returned while departing—as it was taken, it should be returned. He appealed to everyone to fulfill their duty and donate organs when they leave this world. He also thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart.
