Karnal, January 30: The death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was observed across the country with reverence, respect, and simplicity. In this connection, an interfaith prayer meeting was organized in Karnal under the joint leadership of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Organization and the District Congress Committee (Urban and Rural). A large number of Congress leaders and workers participated in the program and paid heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation. The program began with the garlanding and offering of flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
On this occasion, the Congress leaders and workers present pledged to imbibe Gandhi's principles of truth, non-violence, sacrifice, and religious harmony. During the program, Congress leaders also conveyed the message of Swadeshi (self-reliance), self-sufficiency, and respect for labor by spinning the charkha (spinning wheel), which presented a vivid glimpse of Gandhi's ideas. Congress Urban District President Parag Gaba said in his address that Mahatma Gandhi's contribution to the country's independence is unforgettable.
He led several major movements against British rule through non-violence, guiding the country towards freedom. Gaba said that today's generation should draw inspiration from Gandhi's life and work for the betterment of society and the nation. Dr. Sunil Panwar, National President of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Organization, said that Mahatma Gandhi is not just a person, but an ideology that continues to guide society even today.
He said that peace, brotherhood, and equality can be established in society only by following the path of truth and non-violence. Dr. Panwar urged the workers to incorporate Gandhi's ideals into their behavior and to continuously strive to bring justice and development to the last person in society. At the end of the program, an interfaith prayer meeting was held, in which representatives of all religions prayed for peace, social harmony, and unity in the country.
On this occasion, several senior Congress leaders, office bearers, and workers expressed their views and pledged to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
