Chandigarh, October 23 - Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that he has directed the officials that no scholarship amount of any student under pre-matric and post-matric scholarship should be missed. For this, the Resident Commissioners at Haryana Bhawan should ensure that they maintain coordination with the officials of the concerned ministries to get information about the schemes being run by the central ministries and also inform the departments of the state government about it regularly. Along with this, the principals of schools and colleges should also ensure that the students are informed about the schemes and their online scholarship forms are filled.
The Chief Minister was chairing a review meeting of the scholarship schemes given to SC and BC students at the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh today.
He said that it is the responsibility of the government that no meritorious and needy student should leave their studies due to financial constraints. The Chief Minister directed the officers to make information about scholarship schemes available to the students on time and not to be negligent in this work.
He said that information boards should be installed in every school and college, on which complete information about all scholarship schemes should be clearly written so that the students do not face any difficulty in filling the forms and in the application process.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to conduct ground monitoring of the schemes and prepare review reports from time to time and submit them to the government, so that the state government can deposit its 40 percent share in the accounts of the students and the remaining 60 percent share of the center can be directly transferred to the accounts of the students through DBT.
He said that at the time of admission of the students, during counseling, the officers should inform the students and their parents that if they are eligible for the scholarship scheme, then the students' bank accounts should be linked with Aadhaar, so that they can get the scholarship on time.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's special focus is on skill development of the youth of the country, so that every youth can become self-reliant and can make full use of their talent. In this direction, the Haryana Government will also give special emphasis on improving the skills of the students of the state, especially the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) youth belonging to economically weaker sections. The government aims that these students should not only get quality education but also become employable and play a leading role in the society with self-respect. In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department Shri Vineet Garg informed the Chief Minister that scholarship schemes are being run by the Higher Education Department, Technical Education, Skill Development and Industrial Training, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Medical Education and Research and AYUSH Departments. Students have to upload their applications on the portal of the Higher Education Department for the scholarship. After that, the concerned college or university and the department have to verify it. After that, 40 percent of the state government's share is paid. After that, 60 percent is credited to the students' accounts through the Central Government National Scholarship Portal.
Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical Education and Research Department Mr. Sudhir Rajpal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Arun Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Justice, Empowerment, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and Antondaiya Department Dr. G Anupama along with officials of other departments were present in the meeting.
