Hansi:- In view of the summer season, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Narwal directed the officials of the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure that no household in the district faces a shortage of drinking water. He stated that keeping in mind the rising temperatures and the increasing demand for water, the process of installing shallow (shallow/cello) tubewells based on requirement in rural and urban areas should be expedited so that uninterrupted drinking water supply can be guaranteed to the general public.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the administration's objective is to provide an adequate quantity of clean drinking water to every citizen in the district. He instructed the officials to develop alternative water sources on a priority basis in areas prone to water scarcity and to establish additional tubewells wherever necessary.
Sanjeev Tyagi, Executive Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, informed that currently, the waterworks in urban areas are filled up to nearly 85 percent, while water has also reached the waterworks in rural areas. He mentioned that due to the reduced number of days of water flow in the canals, water storage has been affected, which has increased pressure on the water supply in certain areas.
On this, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Narwal instructed the officials that under no circumstances should the drinking water supply be disrupted. He ordered that wherever a need is felt, immediate action should be taken to install shallow tubewells, and regular monitoring of the water supply system must be ensured.
The Executive Engineer shared that the department is continuously issuing approvals for installing shallow tubewells. So far, permission has been granted to install around 10 new tubewells in both urban and rural areas.
He further informed that approval has been granted to install three new shallow tubewells at the waterworks located at Jind Chungi in Hansi. In addition to this, sanctions have been issued to establish shallow tubewells in several villages, including Sainipura, Dhani Peerwali, Mahenda, Kheri Jalab, Kheri Lochab, Sorkhi, Sisai Kaliraman, and Sisai Bolan.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to resolve complaints related to drinking water immediately and to maintain a smooth water supply system through regular field inspections so that the general public does not face any inconvenience during the summer season.
