Samastipur (Bihar) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that the NDA under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will break all previous electoral records in the Bihar assembly elections. During this, he took a dig at the opposition India alliance, which he described as being led by "people out on bail".
Addressing his first rally in the poll-bound state, the Prime Minister asked the crowd to turn on the lights of their mobile phones. He took a dig at the RJD, saying, "When everyone has such modern gadgets, there is no need for lanterns." (Lantern is the RJD's election symbol).
Praising Nitish Kumar, Modi alleged, "He came to power in 2005, but for almost a decade of his tenure, he was hampered by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, which the RJD was constantly blackmailing that it would withdraw its support if it supported the NDA government in Bihar."
The Prime Minister further said, "The assistance given to Bihar by the Centre in the last 11 years is three times the assistance received by the previous government. The state has taken a new turn. It is now exporting fish. Bihar's famous product Makhana is now reaching far and wide markets."
"If there was 'jungle raj' in Bihar, all this would not have been possible," Modi said. "Don't you remember that a former Prime Minister had said that out of every rupee spent by the government, only 15 paise reached the people. 
The money was digested by the bloody paw," Modi said, making an apparent reference to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the election symbol of the Congress (an ally of the RJD). "Bihar will keep 'jungle raj' away and vote for good governance," the Prime Minister said.
