Haryana/Hisar:- The Media Well-Being Association (MWB) is set to become the first organization to provide cashless health insurance to media professionals and their families across the country. The organization will soon host a grand launch ceremony for this ambitious initiative. Association President Chandrashekhar Dharni announced that a Family Cashless Health Insurance Scheme for journalists and their families is being implemented for the year 2025-26. In addition to this, journalists will also be provided with complimentary Term Insurance and Accidental Insurance policies, each worth ?10 lakh. He noted that journalism has evolved into a challenging and high-risk profession today. Journalists often have to work in sensitive and remote areas; consequently, health and life security become absolutely essential. For the past five years, MWB has been running free insurance schemes to ensure the safety and security of journalists and their families. Dharni highlighted that MWB has emerged as the only organization in North India providing cashless medical facilities, term insurance, and accidental insurance to journalists without charging any fee. The organization has consistently provided assistance to needy journalists and their families in instances of critical illness, hospitalization, or financial distress. He expressed his special gratitude to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana's Minister for Energy, Transport, and Labor, Anil Vij, describing them as the "backbone" of the organization. Dharni stated that, with the support and guidance of these two leaders, the organization is continuously scaling new heights. For a long time, MWB has been implementing various initiatives—such as health camps, training programs, and legal aid services—in the interest of journalists. Now, through this insurance scheme, the organization has added a new chapter to the field of journalist safety. Thousands of journalists across various states, including Haryana, are set to benefit from this scheme. Furthermore, special training camps will be organized in Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh to familiarize media professionals with modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The first camp will be held in Haryana, and the second in Himachal Pradesh, during the summer season. Anil Vij stated that this initiative will play a significant role in giving a new direction to journalism and preparing media professionals to align with modern technologies.
