Fatehabad, May 21:- A meeting of the Fatehabad District Development and Coordination Committee (DISHA) was held in the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat, presided over by Kumari Selja, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency. Senior officials from various departments—including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vivek Bharti, Superintendent of Police Smt. Nikita Khattar, ADC Anurag Dhalia, City Magistrate Gaurav Gupta, and District Transport Officer Sanjay Bishnoi—were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the district administration presented a detailed report on the actions taken regarding the directives issued by MP Selja during the previous DISHA meeting. The progress of development works and schemes across various departments was also reviewed. During the session, the MP expressed strong displeasure regarding the functioning of the Fatehabad Municipal Council. She sought explanations from officials concerning the sanitation system in the city and the status of incomplete development projects. Officials from the Municipal Council attributed the pendency of certain projects to land-related disputes that are currently sub-judice (under judicial consideration) in court.
Responding to this, MP Selja reprimanded the officials, questioning why—if new projects could not be initiated for any reason—the cleaning and maintenance of projects that had already been completed were being neglected. Displaying recent photographs taken on May 20 on her mobile phone, she told the officials that the actual condition of the city is no secret to anyone, and that providing basic amenities to the public is the primary responsibility of the administration.
During the meeting, MP Kumari Selja also sternly admonished officials from the Public Health Department for their negligence in executing works, issuing a clear directive that no laxity whatsoever would be tolerated in matters directly affecting the general public. The MP instructed the officials to accelerate the pace of development works and to prioritize the improvement of sanitation, drinking water supply, and other basic amenities within the city.
