Chandigarh:- Marking another milestone in the Punjab government’s employment drive, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today handed over appointment letters to 355 youth. This takes the total number of government jobs given since the formation of his government to 67,037. Terming this achievement as a direct proof of the new recruitment system in Punjab, the Chief Minister said that for the first time, government jobs are being given only on the basis of merit, transparency and fair competition, without any recommendation, political influence or corruption.
The Chief Minister said that paper leak incidents like NEET have shaken the confidence of the youth across the country, and 93 paper leaks have been reported across the country since 2017. In contrast, not a single paper leak has been reported in Punjab since 2022.
Highlighting the government’s comprehensive approach to youth empowerment, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjab is not only creating jobs but also creating opportunities that motivate the youth to stay, thrive and succeed in the state. Pointing to major investments in skill development through initiatives to reverse the migration of skilled youth, opening the way to regular employment for 65,000 contractual workers and upgrading 25 new ITIs and 13 existing ITI institutions, he said that the AAP government is committed to providing confidence, opportunities and all possible support to the youth of Punjab to build their future while staying in the country.
Addressing the ceremony of distributing appointment letters to newly selected candidates in the departments of Technical Education, Cooperation, Local Government, Water Supply and Sanitation, Animal Husbandry, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development and others, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this day marks another important milestone in the ongoing mission of the Punjab government to empower the youth of the state through employment and good governance.
Sharing some glimpses of the occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on his X handle, "Today 355 more youth were handed over appointment letters, taking the total number of government jobs given so far to 67,037. All these jobs have been given only on the basis of merit and transparency. At a time when paper leaks like NEET are rampant across the country, Punjab has set an example by ensuring honesty, transparency and fairness in recruitment processes and has achieved a high position in the field of education across the country.
I appeal to the newly appointed candidates to give priority to the work of senior citizens and common people in government offices." The AAP government is fully committed to fulfilling the dreams of the youth by stopping their going abroad and providing them with opportunities for advancement within Punjab.
Highlighting the transparent recruitment process adopted by the Punjab government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann compared Punjab's record with the current situation in other parts of the country. He said, "Since 2017, there have been reports of about 93 exam paper leaks across the country. Such incidents related to major exams including NEET have disappointed lakhs of youth. However, since our government assumed power in 2022, not a single paper leak has been reported in Punjab. This is because an honest government is in power in the state. Promising students are getting jobs and opportunities based on their talent and hard work." The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has so far provided 67,037 government jobs on the basis of merit, and every appointment has been made free from corruption, nepotism or favoritism.
