Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 9: During the mayoral elections for the Mohali Municipal Corporation held today, Sarabjit Singh Samana was elected as Mayor, Rajinder Prasad as Senior Deputy Mayor, and Harpal Singh Channa as Deputy Mayor.
Prior to the election process, all 50 newly elected councilors of the Mohali Municipal Corporation were administered the oath of office. The oath-taking ceremony and the election process were conducted under the supervision of Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Commissioner of the Rupnagar Division, who acted as the convener, while Councilor Gurmukh Singh Sohal presided over the election proceedings.
Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party State President Aman Arora, who was entrusted by the party high command with overseeing the Mohali mayoral elections, congratulated the newly elected officials. He expressed confidence that the new team would work with complete dedication to boost Mohali's development and strengthen civic services.
Speaking to the media, Aman Arora said that Mohali would be developed as a model city, accelerating its development pace to establish it as a "city of dreams." He stated that the people of urban Punjab have already given overwhelming support to the pro-people policies and good governance led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and have granted a strong mandate to the Aam Aadmi Party.
Thanking all the councilors for the smooth completion of the election process, Aman Arora expressed gratitude to the 35 councilors who supported the Aam Aadmi Party candidates, including the party's 27 councilors and Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh. He remarked that today's proceedings reflected the party's unity and its collective commitment to serving the residents of Mohali.
District AAP President Prabhjot Kaur and Chairman of the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, were also present on the occasion.
MLA Kulwant Singh thanked the residents of Mohali, all councilors, and party workers for the successful completion of the election for Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor. He assured that the newly elected leadership would work tirelessly to resolve civic issues and fulfill the people's expectations.
The election process was overseen by Manvesh Singh Sidhu, Commissioner of Rupnagar Division, in the presence of Municipal Corporation Mohali Commissioner Sandeep Singh Garha. Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, and SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur were also in attendance.
Following the election, Sarabjit Singh Samana formally assumed charge as the Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation. Similarly, Rajinder Prasad took office as Senior Deputy Mayor, and Harpal Singh Channa assumed the role of Deputy Mayor.
The newly elected Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor thanked the party leadership, councilors, and city residents for their trust, assuring them that they would work collectively for public welfare, planned urban development, and the overall progress of Mohali.
A large number of public representatives, councilors, party leaders, officials, and supporters were present at the event.
