Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, January 9:- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Matratva Abhiyan (PMSMA) Day was celebrated today in various government health institutions of the district, under which pregnant women were examined by gynecological specialists and information was given to them regarding safe delivery. It is worth mentioning that four ANC checkups are mandatory for every pregnant woman, which are done completely free of cost in government health institutions.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Tamanna Singhal said that under this program, pregnant women, especially high-risk pregnant women, are examined free of cost on the 9th and 23rd of every month. The main objective of this program is to examine pregnant women in the second and third trimester and to identify high-risk pregnant women and provide them with proper treatment.
Health officials appealed to the general public, especially pregnant women, to reach government health institutions and take maximum advantage of the free facilities being provided by the health department. They said that for the safety of pregnant women, an uneducated person should never deliver the baby, as doing so can endanger the lives of both the woman and the child.
Health officials said that the health department is smoothly implementing state and central health schemes and programs for the well-being of the people and is committed to providing better maternal and child health services to the people. Refreshments were also served to the pregnant women on the occasion.
