Patiala, November 21:- As per the guidelines of the Director of Health and Family Welfare, in order to keep the number of families limited and increase the participation of men in the field of family planning, a sterilization fortnight is being celebrated from November 21 to December 4 under the theme “A healthy and happy family can be achieved only with the participation of men.”
On this occasion, a sterilization fortnight is being celebrated under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra and under the leadership of District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Balkar Singh. The main objective of which is to create awareness about sterilization in the society and encourage men to get sterilized.
On this occasion, Dr. Sanjay Kamra said that an awareness campaign on incisionless sterilization will be run from today to November 27 under the fortnight, under which SIs, LHVs, MPHWs, ANMs, ASHA facilitators and ASHA workers have been instructed to go door to door to make people aware. After this, sterilization operations will be performed in government health institutions from November 28 to December 4.
On this occasion, Dr. Balkar Singh said that this is a small operation in which neither any incision is made nor any stitches are applied. After an hour of the operation, the man can go home. After 72 hours, he can do his daily work as before. There is no weakness after the sterilization operation.
He said that one should not fall into any kind of superstition. He said that it is easier than the sterilization operation for women. The District Family Welfare Officer said that Rs. 1100 is given to the person who gets the sterilization operation done and Rs. 200 is given to the motivator. He said that male participation can play an important role in family planning. To stop the increasing population, it is important that men play their responsibility in this work.
On this occasion, District Mass Media Officer Kulbir Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Jupinder Pal Kaur, District BCC Coordinator Jasbir Kaur, BEE Shian Zafar, Bittu and other staff were present.
