SAS Nagar, October 23- The Local Government Department has issued a notification to expand the boundaries of the Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar and has sought objections in this regard within 15 days. The areas proposed to be included in the Municipal Corporation include Sector 66 Alpha, Sector 66 Beta, Aero City, IT City, Sectors 81, 82, 83, 85, 86, 88-89, 90-91, 94, and the area of Sector 74. However, in the resolution passed regarding the expansion of the Municipal Corporation boundaries during the Municipal Corporation meeting on June 28, 2021, the villages of Balongi, Bar Majra, Ballo Majra, TDI Sectors 117-118, and village Baliali were also proposed to be included in the Municipal Corporation, but these areas have not been included in the current notification.
In this notification issued under the signatures of Punjab Government's Additional Chief Secretary Shri Tejveer Singh, it is stated that through Resolution No. 25 dated 28-6-2021 by the House of Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar, a decision was taken to include the adjacent areas/villages/sectors in the boundaries of Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar for their all-round development. After consideration, the government issued Notification No. 06/11/2021 2LG1 /1603-1605 dated 13/12/2021 and sought objections from the general public. During the proceedings, considering the latest status report received from the Commissioner Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar, Chief Administrator GMADA, and Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar, the new boundary of Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar is under consideration for expansion as shown in the Schedule of Boundary.
The notification states that before making a final decision on the current changes, it would be appropriate to seek objections/suggestions from the affected general public. Therefore, exercising the powers under Section 03(6) of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act 1976, the Punjab Government, through the Local Government Department, in supersession of Notification No. 06/11/2021-2LG1/1603-1605 dated 13/12/2021, seeks objections/suggestions from the general public in this regard through the present notification before doing so. These should be submitted to the Commissioner Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar within 15 days from the date of issuance of this notification. After considering these objections, a final decision will be made regarding the boundary expansion.
Copies of this notification have also been sent to the Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats, Punjab, Chandigarh; Director Local Government Department, Punjab, Chandigarh; Director, Rural Development and Panchayats, Punjab; Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar Mohali; Examiner, Local Fund Account, Punjab, Chandigarh; Sub Divisional Magistrate, SAS Nagar Mohali. Additionally, the District Development and Panchayat Officer, SAS Nagar has been written to ensure that the concerned Gram Panchayats are informed.
In this regard, a copy of the notification has been sent to the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar with instructions to give wide publicity to this notification and to affix copies on the notice boards of the District Court, Tehsil Court, and Municipal Corporation. 
Additionally, announcements should be made through drums/speakers for public awareness, and this notification should be published in prominent newspapers (English and Punjabi), (copies of the newspapers should be sent to this office). The Commissioner has also been instructed to send the received objections with comments to this office within the stipulated time.
