Hoshiarpur: In the presence of MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa, Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh today laid the foundation stone for the new fire station to be built near the Municipal Corporation's cowshed near Bhangi Choa. During the ceremony, Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh stated that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to accelerating urban development, and this fire station, equipped with modern facilities, is being constructed at a cost of approximately ?2.90 crore.
He stated that this new station, built on 2 acres of Municipal Corporation land, will be completed within a year, keeping in mind the city's needs. After its completion, the old fire station located on Railway Road will be relocated here.
He added that the new station, located on the outskirts of the city, will avoid traffic congestion during emergencies and ensure timely arrival of firefighting vehicles. Currently, the long journey time from the old station to the outskirts of the city often delays relief and rescue operations, which this new station will address.
MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa, speaking on the occasion, stated that this project is extremely important for Hoshiarpur. He added that the Punjab government is working tirelessly to accelerate the city's development, security, and amenities.
The new fire station will not only strengthen the city's disaster management capabilities but will also provide better and faster fire services to the surrounding rural areas. He thanked the Local Bodies Minister, stating that this project will fulfill a long-standing public demand.
Present on the occasion were Mayor Surinder Kumar, Chairman of the Municipal Improvement Trust, Hoshiarpur, Gurbinder Singh Pabla, Chairman of the Market Committee, Hoshiarpur, Jaspal Singh Chechi, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, councillors, and Municipal Corporation officials.
