Ambala, December 17: On Wednesday, in Parliament, Sirsa MP, former Union Minister and All India Congress General Secretary Kumari Selja strongly criticized the central government regarding the long-pending railway projects affecting the people of Haryana, especially Western Haryana.
The MP said that for years, important railway projects have remained confined to mere announcements and files, hindering the balanced development of the state and increasing public frustration. The people of the state have been waiting for these projects for years. Now is the time for the government to stop making empty promises and actually deliver, so that the state's development can get a new direction.
Referring specifically to the Sirsa-Fatehabad-Agroha railway line project, MP Kumari Selja said that despite the announcement of approximately Rs. 410 crore, neither a proper survey has been completed nor has construction work begun. This situation not only reflects the neglect of Agroha Dham, the sacred pilgrimage site of the Agarwal community, but also represents an injustice to the development of Western Haryana.
In her statement in Parliament, MP Selja also cited the Yamunanagar-Raipur Rani-Ambala rail project as an example of the government's apathy and said that if this project is completed, it will give a new impetus to industrial development as well as tourism. She also emphasized the need for expanding rail facilities in the world-famous pilgrimage site of Kurukshetra.
In addition, Kumari Selja described the Sirsa-Bhadra new rail line as extremely important, saying that this project, while connecting Haryana and Rajasthan, could become a strategic rail corridor connecting North India to Jaipur and Mumbai. She demanded that this project be declared of national importance.
Kumari Selja clearly stated that she has written to the Honorable Railway Minister several times on these issues, but no concrete action has been taken so far. She urged the central government to move beyond announcements and implement all these railway projects on the ground as soon as possible. The MP also raised the issue of the new railway line from Rohtak to Meham-Hansi in Parliament.
She stated that the construction of the new railway line from Rohtak to Meham-Hansi had commenced in 2013 and is now fully completed, but surprisingly, regular passenger train services have not yet been started on this line. Kumari Selja demanded that passenger trains be immediately introduced on this route and that a Vande Bharat Express train be started via Bathinda-Hisar-Hansi-Rohtak, which would save approximately one hour in travel time from Sirsa to Delhi and directly benefit the entire western Haryana region.
The MP said that the people of Haryana have been waiting for these projects for years. She added that it is now time for the government to stop making promises and instead deliver on its commitments, so that the state's development can receive a new impetus.
