Sanaur:- An awareness program was organized at P.M. Shri Government Kanya Senior Secondary Smart School, Sanaur regarding protection from heat wave, heat, fire, dehydration and other emergency situations. On this occasion, the principal of the school, Dr. Karamjit Kaur, said that information and training regarding safety, health, first aid and assistance to victims plays a very important role in saving lives.
She said that thousands of people are losing their lives every day due to natural, climatic and human disasters like fire, earthquake, flood, tsunami, cloudburst and other accidents that are increasing day by day. She said that during such incidents, lack of knowledge about proper use of gas, electricity and petroleum products, safety measures and rescue operations in emergency situations is also a major reason.
Dr. Karamjit Kaur said that students, teachers, employees and parents should be given regular training on possible hazards related to chemical, nuclear, electricity and petroleum, disaster management, safety and first aid. She said that the government, district administration and education department are also making continuous efforts in this direction.
On this occasion, retired training supervisor of Red Cross Society and disaster management trainer of Government of India Shri Kaka Ram Verma and ASI of Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell Ram Saran gave detailed information to the students about protection from heat wave, heat, dehydration, cholera, high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, fainting, heart attack, cardiac arrest and other emergency situations.
She said that during summer, ORS, sweet lemonade, lassi, sattu and other liquids should be used to fulfill the deficiency of water and salt in the body. Also, necessary precautions should be taken to avoid heat and heat.
At the end of the program, the teachers and students thanked Dr. Karamjit Kaur, Shri Kaka Ram Verma and ASI Ram Saran and said that such trainings and exercises on First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety, Safe Use of Gas Cylinders and Disaster Management should be conducted regularly in schools, colonies and villages, so that people become aware and accidents and untimely deaths due to negligence can be reduced.
