Hisar: To mark the completion of 12 glorious years of service, good governance, and public welfare by the Central Government, the Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar, organized a "Kisan Yatra and Livestock Promotion Conference" at the Indira Gandhi Auditorium of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU). Farmers, livestock owners, scientists, students, and officials from across the state participated in the conference.
The Chief Guest of the program was Haryana’s Minister of Public Health Engineering and Public Works, Ranbir Gangwa. Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar and Hisar Mayor Praveen Popli were present as guests of honor. The event was presided over by LUVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vinod Kumar Verma, with HAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.R. Kamboj also in attendance.
Ranbir Gangwa stated that remarkable progress has been made in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors over the last 12 years. He urged people to take advantage of schemes related to livestock insurance, dairy development, breed improvement, animal health services, and self-employment. Emphasizing scientific animal management, balanced feed, modern techniques, and improved breeds, he said that a science-based approach is essential to make animal husbandry a profitable business.
He stressed the importance of conserving and promoting indigenous animal breeds as a national necessity, focusing on breeding superior animals and using modern technologies. He also praised the research, training, and extension work being done by the university for the benefit of farmers. He gave the message of "Prosperous Livestock, Prosperous Farmer, Prosperous Haryana" and called for collective efforts.
Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar said that animal husbandry has become an effective medium to increase farmers' income. He appealed to them to take advantage of the techniques developed by scientists and training programs, adding that there are vast self-employment opportunities for youth and women in the livestock sector.
LUVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vinod Kumar Verma said the university is continuously working to empower farmers and livestock owners through research, education, and extension activities. He mentioned that programs are being run in areas like animal health management, breed improvement, balanced diet, milk production, disease control, and livestock-based entrepreneurship. He said the university's true success is measured by the positive changes in the lives of farmers.
HAU Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.R. Kamboj described agriculture and animal husbandry as the two cornerstones of the rural economy and emphasized adopting research-based techniques. Mayor Praveen Popli highlighted the importance of modern technology, balanced nutrition, and improved breeds.
In the conference, expert scientists provided information on modern animal husbandry, animal health, disease control, breed development, milk production, and livestock-based entrepreneurship. Farmers interacted with experts to find solutions to their problems.
On this occasion, progressive farmers and livestock owners who made significant contributions to the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors were honored. At the end of the program, Registrar Dr. R.N. Chaudhary thanked all the guests and participants. The conference proved to be an effective platform to connect farmers and livestock owners with scientific techniques and government schemes.
