Patiala:- Efforts are being made on a war footing in the world to prepare students as helping angels of the victims to save precious lives during disasters, wars and sudden accidents. Dedicated Brothers Group and First Aid, Safety, Health Awareness Mission established Jagriti Club at Patel Memorial National College.
At the ongoing NSS camp, Principal Dr. Chandra Prakash Gandhi, Program Officer Dr. Mandeep Singh and Professor Vandana Gupta expressed their gratitude and said that due to the increasing natural, climatic and human disasters, diseases, bombs, missiles during wars, trainings and exercises to avoid disasters, for the first time, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets at the college were made aware through the Jagriti Club by Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, Disaster Management Trainer, and formed 10 types of teams and told that due to small disasters, hundreds of lives are being lost every day in homes, colonies, factories, institutions and on the roads.
But during very terrible disasters and wars, thousands of people die in a few hours because they have never been made aware by conducting trainings and exercises on disaster management, first aid safety. They said that it is very important and useful in the future to train the youth, citizens and employees by forming relief teams in every institution, colony, factory and city and village to save the victims and to save them.
Because in situations of terrible disasters, roads, hospitals, food, water also end. To save the victims, it is very important to teach the youth about sirens, assembly points, lying down for rescue, rescue of the victims, transport, first aid, fire safety, use of help line numbers, protection from thieves, use of fire extinguisher cylinders, and demonstration about mud settlement. The governments of India and Punjab are conducting civil defense, first aid, fire safety trainings, practice mock drills in the districts.
Dr. Gagandeep, Nandita, Professor Avtar Singh, NSS and NCC students expressed their gratitude and said that their self-confidence and courage have been boosted through the training and practice of safety, rescue, help. They requested that such awareness clubs be started in other institutions as well to awaken and save humanity.
