Patiala:- To make Punjab healthy, fit, safe and prosperous, by making students and youth aware of the physical, mental, social, economic and legal problems caused by cancer, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, fainting, drugs and the ill effects of fast food, the governments, district administrations and social service organizations are making sincere and loyal efforts on a war footing.
These views were expressed by Mrs. Parminder Kaur Manchanda, Director of Punjab Red Cross De-Addiction Integrated Center, Mr. Upkar Singh, President Gyan Jyoti Education Society and Inspector Sarabjit Kaur, Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell, during the inter-school competitions organized on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day, to the students, teachers and admitted patients.
He said that awareness, prevention, self-confidence, understanding, courage, honesty, patience, peace, tolerance and feelings of support and cooperation from others are more beneficial than treatment. Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer First Aid Safety Health Awareness Mission said that it is necessary for the heads of teacher education institutions and parents to come forward to prevent diseases, drugs, crimes and accidents.
During the competitions organized, Bhawana of Jeevan Jyoti School, Komal of Soni Public School, Hemant of Green Land School and Tamanna of Jeevan Jyoti School were the winners in the senior group, while Tejpreet Kaur of Greenland School came first, Rebecca of the same school came second, and Tanisa of Jeevan Jyoti School came third. Green Well Public Senior Secondary School won the highest prize and Ravinder Kaur Sidhu honored the school by giving the Chalint Trophy in memory of her brother, former IGP, Paramjit Singh Sarao.
Two trophies presented by Shri Kaka Ram Verma were awarded to Jeevan Jyoti and Soni Public Schools respectively. Counselors of Red Cross De-Addiction Integrated Center Ranjit Kaur, Pravinder Verma, Amarjit Kaur and Dr. Charu Gautam and ASI Ram Saran informed about the work being done to make the youth involved in drugs, fast food, junk food, cold drink crimes drug-free.
The students took an oath that they would continue to make efforts to make Punjab healthy, safe, secure and prosperous by making themselves, friends, colleagues aware of their life, health, well-being and safe future.
