SAS Nagar, March 06:- To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day, a district-level Health and Employment Camp was organised by the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development at Shaheed Major Harminder Pal Singh Government College, Phase-6, Mohali, under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. The camp was organised in collaboration with the Employment Department, Health Department and Rural Development Department.
The primary objective of the camp was to provide employment opportunities to youth while also conducting general and specialised health check-ups for women. During the camp, 375 women underwent health check-ups. Ms. Sonam Chaudhary, ADC (D) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. On this occasion, she along with Mr. Nikhil Arora (District Programme Officer), Incharge DBEE, Mrs. Jaspreet Bains (Principal, Government College Phase-6), Dr. Sangita Jain (Civil Surgeon), Ms. Gursimran Kaur (CDPO Kharar), Ms. Sukhmaneet Kaur (CDPO Majri) and Ms. Suman (CDPO Derabassi) distributed offer letters to selected candidates.
Additionally, baby kits were distributed to mothers of newborn girls, while health kits were provided to women beneficiaries who attended the health check-up camp. Each health kit included a first-aid kit, thermometer, glucometer, wipes and sanitary napkins.
As part of the employment drive, 21 companies including Axis Bank, R.S. Manpower Provider, Murari Services, V5 Global Services and LIC, among others, participated in the placement camp and offered more than 800 job vacancies. A total of 242 candidates appeared for the recruitment process.
The event also featured a display and sale of products by Self Help Groups (SHGs) including handwoven dupattas, phulkari work, organic honey, desi ghee and other locally produced items, highlighting and promoting women entrepreneurship in the district.
