Chandigarh: Speaking about INLD's role in the winter session of the assembly, which begins on December 18, INLD state spokesperson Omkar Singh said that INLD legislative party leader Aditya Devi Lal and MLA Arjun Chautala have submitted calling attention motions on nine important issues of public interest.
These include seeking clarification on the lack of action taken on the Supreme Court's order of November 10, 2016, in favor of Haryana regarding the construction of the SYL canal; the deteriorating law and order situation due to rising crime in the state; the thousands of vacant teacher positions in government schools; the tenfold increase in tractor registration renewal fees; the tragic deaths of two basketball players in November due to a falling pole and the dilapidated condition of sports complexes; the rampant drug abuse in the state and the open sale of "Planecough D" cough syrup despite its ban; the severe shortage of teachers in vocational training institutions; scams in paddy and millet procurement; and the issue of handing over Chandigarh to Haryana.
Additionally, MLA Aditya Devi Lal has also asked 4 starred and 2 unstarred questions. These include questions about the number of murders, rapes, gang rapes, kidnappings, robberies, and other criminal incidents against women, businessmen, and people from Scheduled Castes in the state from 2019 to 2025; the number of young people who died due to drug abuse from January 1, 2019, and the number of culprits against whom action was taken; details of the amount paid by insurance companies to farmers for crop damage under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the last three financial years; and which papers of the exams conducted by HPSC from 2014 to 2025 were leaked.
The unstarred questions include details of the number of medium and small-scale industrial units in the state and the number of units that have closed down; and the number of GST scams that have occurred from 2019 to 2025 and the number of culprits against whom action has been taken.
