Jalandhar, July 6 (Paigam-e-Jagat) Introducing a historic bill in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, North Vidhan Sabha constituency MLA Bawa Henry has demanded strict laws for population control.

He presented the draft of 'Population Control Bill 2025' before Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawa, in which MLA Bawa Henry demanded that new families be banned from having more than 2 children. A fine of Rs 10 lakh should be provided and the right to vote should be abolished for parents having more than 2 children. Not only this, people with more than 2 children should also be banned from contesting elections and doing government jobs.

MLA Bawa Henry said that BPL families limited to 2 children should get cash incentives, while general families should also be given subsidies, tax exemptions and easy loans. He said that India's land area is only 2.3 percent of the world's total area, but more than 17 percent of the population lives here. This imbalance has a huge impact on the country's growth potential.
