Chandigarh, February 10:- Haryana Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, while addressing the crowd present on the occasion of the 39th International Surajkund Crafts Fair, said that this fair is not just a festival of art and culture, but it is a strong platform providing recognition and opportunity at the international level for the craftsmen, artists and people associated with handicrafts of the country.
He said that the Surajkund International Crafts Fair has been organized continuously since the year 1987 and today, under the concept of Developed India 2047 of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, the grandeur, beauty and international recognition of this fair is increasing day by day.
World platform for artisans and artists
The Cooperation Minister said that this international crafts fair is an exposure platform for artisans, artists and people associated with handicrafts. He said that last year 44 countries participated, while this year the participation of more than 50 countries shows the increasing global recognition of this fair. He expressed confidence that the Surajkund Crafts Fair will also have a special contribution in the construction of a developed India, as this fair strengthens the spirit of indigenous art, culture and self-reliant India.
He appealed to the people to interact with the artisans and encourage their art. This will boost the morale of the artists and craftsmen and strengthen their livelihood. The presence of artists like Kailash Khair further increases the prestige and attraction of the fair.
