Chandigarh, March 11:- Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao said that the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW), Panchkula under the Haryana Health Department is playing an important role in strengthening the health services of the state. The institute is regularly organizing training and capacity building programs for doctors, nurses and other health workers. Health workers of Primary Health Centers (PHCs), Community Health Centers (CHCs) and District Civil Hospitals participate in these programs. Along with this, training programs are also being organized in the districts under the supervision of SIHFW.
The Health Minister said that zonal skill labs have been established in the state to provide skill-based training and practical experience to the health workers. These include Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Panipat and Karnal districts under Rohtak Skill Lab, while Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Hisar, Jind, Fatehabad and Sirsa districts under Bhiwani Skill Lab. Similarly, Panchkula Skill Lab includes Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Kaithal and Faridabad, Mahendragarh (Narnaul), Rewari, Nuh, Palwal and Gurugram districts under Faridabad Skill Lab. He said that the main objective of these training programs is to achieve the goals of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal-3. Under this, the target has been set to reduce the maternal mortality rate to 70 per lakh live births, neonatal mortality rate to 12 per thousand live births and under-five mortality rate to 25 per thousand live births by the year 2030.
A spokesperson of the Health Department said that this year, 1211 health workers were trained by the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Panchkula, while 5220 health workers were trained at the district level. Apart from this, five Continuing Medical Education programmes were organized on various topics including Pediatric Emergency, Towards Zero Maternal Deaths: Innovation and Intervention, Managing Near Miss Mortality, Immediate Trauma Life Support and Burn Management and Neuro Critical Emergency: Brain Waves 2026.
He said that for spreading health awareness and knowledge, around 18 online training programmes were organized this year, in which 2441 health workers participated. Currently, induction training for 34 nursing officers and RTI/STI training for 21 medical officers is going on in Panchkula.
He said that induction training programmes are regularly organized for newly appointed Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons and Nursing Officers to make them aware about the functioning of health services, hospital protocols, infection control and patient centric services. In addition, mid-career training programmes are organized for senior medical officers, in which special focus is given on administrative leadership, clinical governance, medico-legal responsibilities and hospital management.
He said that considering the important role of nursing staff, mid-career training is also organized for staff nurses, so that their clinical skills and leadership capacity can be further strengthened. Along with this, administrative and financial management training is also provided to senior medical officers.
He said that Accident and Emergency Care Services Training and Basic Life Support courses are also regularly organized to enhance the efficiency of health workers in emergency services. This gives doctors and health workers the ability to deal effectively with trauma, cardiac emergencies and other critical situations. He said that through these comprehensive training programs, Chh1.-Hai Panchkula is continuously strengthening the capacity of the health workers of Haryana, thereby ensuring better health services, a strong public health system and better health outcomes of the citizens in the state.
