Chandigarh, August 26:- Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao has appealed to the people of the state to take the pledge of eye donation on the occasion of the 41st National Eye Donation Fortnight being celebrated till September 8, 2026. She said that "eye donation is a great gift" and your eyes can bring new light in the life of a visually impaired person.
Aarti Singh Rao said that an eye donation made by one person can brighten the lives of two visually impaired people. She clarified that a person can take a pledge to donate eyes during his lifetime, while the eyes are safely removed within 6 to 8 hours after death. No fee is charged from the eye donors or recipients for this entire process.
After the death of the eye donor, the family members can immediately contact the nearest government health center, eye donation center of the district civil hospital, medical college or eye bank. Apart from this, citizens can also contact Haryana on Dial 112 or the national helpline number 1800-11-4770.
The Health Minister said that every section of the society should come forward and join this holy campaign so that maximum needy people can get light.
