Chandigarh, May 5:- Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini has said that Haryana has become the first state in the northern region to introduce free single donor platelets for dengue patients in government hospitals. Dengue patients are paid Rs 11 thousand. A total of 154 blood centers are functioning in the state. The government collected more than 4 lakh 50 thousand units of blood, exceeding the target of 3 lakh 30 thousand units of blood set last year. Haryana has received the award for excellence in blood donation from the Central Government for the second consecutive year for donating the highest amount of blood in the year 2024-25.
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini was speaking at a program organized on the birthday of Union Energy and Housing Minister Shri Manohar Lal at Ladwa in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. The Chief Minister, along with Haryana Raj Bal Kalyan Parishad Vice President Smt. Suman Saini and former Minister of State Shri Subhash Sudha, performed the complete offering in the Havan Yagya. After this, the Chief Minister inaugurated the blood donation camp by cutting the ribbon and honored the blood donors by attaching badges and giving certificates. The Chief Minister said that I am very happy to be among you in the blood donation camp organized on the birthday of Union Energy and Housing Minister Shri Manohar Lal at this holy land of Dharam Kshetra-Kurukshetra. The Chief Minister, while extending birthday greetings and best wishes to Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal, said that his life is a source of inspiration for all of us. He has always given top priority to service, transparency and public welfare in his political and social life. Today, the organization of a blood donation camp on the occasion of his birthday is actually a noble effort to realize his life values.
He said that it is said in our culture and scriptures that Nar Seva is Narayan Seva. Blood donation is the highest example of this sentiment. When a person donates his blood, he not only saves a life, but also fills the family with happiness, which is on the verge of losing their beloved. He said that this donation is superior to any other donation, because it is directly linked to life. Today, science has made amazing progress that we have reached space and are inventing new technologies, but even today we have not been able to create any artificial alternative to blood. This means that only one human being can become the support of another human being's life.
The Chief Minister said that today the need for blood has increased rapidly. Be it an accident victim, a cancer patient, a person undergoing major surgery or a child suffering from diseases like thalassemia and hemophilia, blood is the basis of life for all of them. Statistics show that in our country, someone needs blood every two seconds and one in every ten patients admitted to the hospital needs blood.
This is a serious situation, which demands collective efforts from all of us. He said that in such a situation, only aware and dedicated citizens like you can overcome this shortage. Your small initiative can bring a new dawn in someone's life, save a mother's lap from deafness and bring back a smile on a child's face.
Shri Naib Singh Saini said that according to medical science, a healthy person, whose age is between 18 and 65 years, can donate blood safely. This does not have any adverse effect on the body, but it also promotes the formation of new blood in our body. Therefore, we have to dispel these misconceptions and make people aware.
He said that the government in Haryana is also continuously making efforts in this direction. The government is continuously working to modernize health facilities in the state, promote voluntary blood donation and ensure the quality of blood bank services.
The Chief Minister said that in our state, with the cooperation of blood donors, free blood is being provided to thalassemia, hemophilia, HIV positive patients, pregnant women and people suffering from anemia. Along with this, arrangements have been made to provide free blood to patients admitted in government hospitals. All this has been possible only with the tireless efforts of aware citizens like you.
He said that the youth in our state not only organize blood donation camps, but also instill the spirit of service in the hearts of people. This work is not possible only with the efforts of the administration or the government. Therefore, the cooperation of every section of the society is necessary. When the government and the society work together, only then can we build a healthy, safe and powerful society. The Chief Minister appealed to the youth to donate blood regularly and motivate others to do the same. Your contribution is very important in building such a healthy society.
