S.A.S. Nagar, August 20, 2026:- Punjab Mandi Board Chairman S. Harchand Singh Barsat honored the Punjab Mandi Board Employees' Union and Vehicle Supervisor Sukhvinder Singh Gill for organizing a sapling distribution drive aimed at environmental conservation and promoting greenery. Inspired by S. Harchand Singh Barsat, the Union and Sukhvinder Singh Gill distributed saplings of fruit-bearing and traditional varieties.
Appreciating the initiative to make the environment greener, Chairman S. Harchand Singh Barsat stated that trees play a crucial role in keeping the environment clean and lush. He noted that the monsoon season is the best time for plantation, as saplings planted during this period thrive easily. 
He emphasized that along with planting, it is essential to pay special attention to the care and maintenance of the saplings. S. Barsat remarked that trees not only fulfill various human needs but also contribute significantly to purifying the environment; therefore, everyone should come forward to plant as many saplings as possible and look after them.
The Chairman mentioned that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, plantation drives are being conducted across the state. He stated that the Punjab Mandi Board is making continuous efforts towards environmental preservation. He encouraged all officers, employees, and commission agents (arhtiyas) to plant five saplings in their vicinity and two saplings on their birthdays, ensuring their proper care.
He informed that the Punjab Mandi Board has set a target to plant 55,000 saplings this season under the 'Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hariyaval Lehar' (Greenery Campaign). Officers including Punjab Mandi Board Secretary Sh. Kumar Amit, Engineer-in-Chief S. Jatinder Singh Bhangu, and Chief Engineer S. Gurinder Singh Cheema, along with Union members, were present on the occasion.
