Chandigarh/Mohali: An important meeting of Punjab School Education Board Employees Association was held under the leadership of Senior Vice President of the Association Shri Gurcharan Singh Tarmala. During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the financial condition of the Board and important issues related to employees.
Leaders of the Association said that about Rs 450 crore amount of Punjab School Education Board under various government schemes is still pending from Punjab Government. Due to non-release of this huge amount for a long time, serious impact is being felt on the financial condition of the Board.
Leaders said that Punjab School Education Board is an autonomous institution, which is running its entire management on the basis of its financial resources. The Board does not receive any separate regular grant from Punjab Government for its daily administrative and employee-related expenses. Despite this, withholding the Board's due pending amount for a long time by the Government is neither justified nor in the interest of the institution.
General Secretary of the Association Paramjit Singh Benipal said that due to non-release of this pending amount by the Government in time, arrears of Sixth Pay Commission of Board employees, other financial liabilities and legitimate payments due to employees are pending for a long time. Due to this, an atmosphere of disappointment is being created among employees and Board has to face unnecessary difficulties in its financial management.
The Association appealed to Punjab Government that if Government is facing shortage of financial resources then its burden should not fall on those autonomous institutions which are running on their own resources. It is duty of Government to release the Board's due amount without any further delay, so that long pending financial liabilities of employees can be settled and financial stability of Board can be ensured.
The Association also demanded that in future an effective system should be made to release due amount to Board under various schemes in time, so that such situation does not arise again.
On this occasion, among office bearers of Association Manoj Rana, Lakhwinder Singh Gharuan, Gurjit Singh Bidowali, Malkeet Singh Gaghar, Manjinder Singh Hulka and Swaran Singh Tiur, Manjit Singh Lehragaga and Rupinder Kaur were present.
Government should immediately release pending amount of about 450 crore to Punjab School Education Board Employees Association
