Haroli/Una, June 27 (Rajveer Chopra): Residents and devotees are facing significant inconvenience due to filthy water from drains overflowing onto the main road leading to Gurpalah Sahib in Bathu Gram Panchayat, Haroli Assembly constituency. According to villagers, this issue has persisted for a long time, yet no permanent solution has been found so far.
It is reported that while drains exist along this route, a lack of regular cleaning has left them completely choked with wastewater, garbage, and vegetation. The blockage causes filthy water to spill onto the road, creating difficulties for commuters. The situation becomes even more severe during the rainy season.
Local residents—including Kulvinder Singh, Rakesh Singh, Pal Singh, Prakash Singh, Chamel Singh, Bhashi, and Avtar Singh—have urged the administration and the concerned department to ensure the drains are cleaned promptly and proper drainage arrangements are made. They seek relief for the local population and the devotees visiting the Gurdwara Sahib.
In this regard, Meena Devi, the Pradhan of Bathu Gram Panchayat, stated that the Panchayat has not yet been formally constituted. Once the Panchayat is formed, the cleaning of drains and other necessary tasks will be initiated in the very first meeting, prioritizing sanitation alongside pending development works.
