Chandigarh, May 8:- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Singh Rana said that under the "Sugane Technology Mission", the farmer who will now sow sugarcane in wide rows at a distance of 4 feet, will be given an incentive of Rs 5 thousand per acre by the government. Earlier, this incentive was being given at Rs 3 thousand per acre.
Shri Rana gave this information after chairing a departmental meeting here today.
He reviewed various works and schemes related to agriculture and gave appropriate guidelines to the officials. He said that the farmer of Haryana is not only a food supplier but also a strong basis for the economic and social stability of the state, therefore, strengthening the farmer is among the priorities of the present government.
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister said that earlier, the government used to give Rs 3,000 per acre as an incentive to the farmer who used to sow sugarcane in wide rows at a distance of 4 feet, but the Chief Minister had announced to increase this amount to Rs 5,000 per acre in this year's budget. Giving practical form to this announcement, the government has given approval in this regard.
He said that to get the said incentive amount, the sugarcane farmers will apply through the portal from October 15, 2026 to December 31, 2026, after which the incentive amount will be paid to the concerned farmer after physical verification by the end of February 2027.
He further said that the incentive amount for farmers to sow sugarcane using the single-eye method has also been increased to Rs 5,000 per acre, earlier this amount was Rs 3,000 per acre.
Shri Shyam Singh Rana also informed that each cooperative sugar mill of the state will provide sugarcane harvester machine to the farmers of its area so that the cost of harvesting the crop of the farmers can be reduced.
He also informed that the productivity of sugarcane will be increased through tissue culture. The sugarcane seedlings (plants) prepared by this method will be made available to the farmers free of cost. These plants will be prepared by Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill. The farmer can take the plants from this mill from October 2026 to December 2026.
Shri Rana said that all these initiatives will prove to be important steps towards modernizing agriculture in the state, increasing the income of farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Shri Vijayendra Kumar, Director Shri Rajnarayan Kaushik and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
