Hoshiarpur:- Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal Ji, the Health Department team conducted “Every Friday, Dengue and War” activities at Punjab Roadways Workshop and Junk Shops. On this occasion, employees and shopkeepers were given detailed information about prevention from dengue, malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases. On this occasion, Larvae were checked by health staff and nursing students.
On this occasion, District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal said that for the prevention and control of dengue, the Health Department is also running a door-to-door mosquito larva checking campaign in urban and slum areas. He said that for this, different teams have been formed which go door to door in different areas of the city every day to check mosquito larvae and make people aware about prevention of dengue.
Meanwhile, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ravinder Jassal and Deputy Mass Media Officer Balvir Kaur while addressing the employees said that dengue mosquito breeds in clean and stagnant water, hence every person should take special care of cleanliness in their home, office and surroundings. They said that old tires, coolers, flower pots, drums, fridge trays and other water collecting containers should be emptied once a week so that the breeding of mosquitoes can be prevented.
During this, the health department team also inspected workshops and junk shops. Wherever standing water was found, anti-larvae were sprayed and people were informed about taking necessary precautions to prevent mosquitoes. Employees were also encouraged to wear full-sleeved clothing, keep water tanks covered, and immediately seek medical attention at a government health facility if they develop a fever.
