Hoshiarpur:- On the occasion of World Hearing Day, Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Mandeep Kamal released four types of awareness pamphlets with the aim of making the district residents aware of hearing related diseases and timely treatment. On this occasion, District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh, ENT Specialist Dr. Rajwant Kaur, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Audiologist Dr. Manu, District Mass Media Officer Tarsem Lal, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ravinder Jassal and BEE Rohit Sharma were also present.
After this, a special awareness program was organized at Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur under the chairmanship of Dr. Navjot Singh, Senior Medical Officer In-charge, and Dr. Neha Pal. During the program, ENT Specialist Dr. Rajwant Kaur said that the ears are a very sensitive and important part of our body. He said that due to ignorance and wrong habits, many people are falling victim to hearing problems or deafness.
Therefore, it is necessary that people should be aware of the care of their ears and contact a specialist doctor immediately if any problem arises. He said that water or any liquid should be prevented from entering the ears and the ears should always be cleaned with a clean and soft cloth. In case of itching in the ears, one should avoid using sharp objects like needles, pins or matchsticks etc.
This can damage the eardrum. He warned that discharge, bad smell or bleeding from the ears can be symptoms of a serious illness and in such a situation, immediate treatment should be sought without delay.
