Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 4 August:- A district level meeting was held today at the District Administrative Complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal to review the preparations for National D-Worming Day to be celebrated on 10th August in the district and with the objective of making the campaign successful. Officers of concerned departments including Health, Education and Women and Child Development departments participated in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all concerned departments to work in mutual coordination and ensure that no child from 1 to 19 years remains deprived of taking Albendazole tablet. It is worth mentioning that Mop-up Day will be on 17th August so that children who remained deprived of taking the tablet due to some reason can be covered.
Mrs. Komal Mittal said that Albendazole tablet should be given to children of eligible age in government and private schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres as per prescribed guidelines. Along with this, parents, teachers and Anganwadi workers should also be made aware about the importance of D-worming so that they motivate children to join this campaign.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that National D-Worming Day (Intestinal Worm Free Day) is an important public health campaign to keep children safe from intestinal worms and to ensure their health, nutrition and all-round development. She said that D-worming prevents problems caused by intestinal worms in children. She said that availability of medicines, training, microplanning and awareness activities are being completed in time by the Health Department.
District Immunization Officer, Dr. Girish Dogra, while presenting the detailed action plan of the campaign, said that the campaign will be made successful in an effective manner with the joint efforts of Health, Education and Women and Child Development departments. He asked all departments to complete their preparations within the prescribed time limit.
All Senior Medical Officers (S.M.O.), District Education Officer, representatives of Women and Child Development Department and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
