Hoshiarpur:- District Planning Committee Chairperson Karamjit Kaur said that due to the effective efforts of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has achieved A+ rating and has earned a profit of Rs 2,634 crore in the financial year 2024-25. She said that this achievement shows that due to the efficient management of the Mann government, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has emerged as a strong, efficient and profitable company for the first time.
Karamjit Kaur said that due to this positive financial situation, the Punjab government has decided to provide significant relief to the people of the state by implementing a historic reduction in electricity tariffs. She said that as per the new tariff order, electricity tariffs for domestic consumers have been reduced by up to Rs 1.5 per unit, which will directly provide relief to lakhs of families. Thanking Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, he said that he has always given priority to the interests of the common people.
He further said that the electricity rates for commercial shops and commercial units have been reduced by up to 79 paise per unit, while for industrial units it has been reduced by up to 74 paise per unit. This will give a boost to industry and trade and economic activities in the state.
Karamjit Kaur said that the electricity rate for electric vehicle charging stations has been reduced to Rs 5 per unit, which is the lowest in India. This will promote the use of electric vehicles in the state and will also strengthen environmental protection.
She said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is continuously taking concrete steps to provide relief to the people and for the development of the state. This record reduction in electricity rates will prove to be a big relief for the common people, businesses and industries and will further strengthen the economy of Punjab.
