Chandigarh, August 19:- Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment and Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shri Krishan Kumar Bedi said that on the occasion of the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, the benefits of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Housing Renewal Scheme will be provided to the eligible families. He has directed the officers to select the eligible families at the state level.
Shri Krishan Kumar Bedi was presiding over a meeting organized with senior officers of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in Chandigarh today. Additional Chief Secretary Smt. G. Anupama, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Director, Social Justice and Empowerment Department Shri Ajay Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Services Department Shri Jaiprakash and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
He said that Dr. B. R. Under the Ambedkar Housing Renewal Scheme, eligible Scheduled Caste families living below the poverty line are provided with financial assistance of Rs. 80 thousand for house renovation. He directed the officers to complete the process of identification and selection of eligible families at the district level in a timely manner, so that the beneficiaries can get the benefits of the scheme at the earliest.
The Minister said that this scheme has now been implemented for the welfare of poor families of all categories. Till June 30, 2026, an assistance amount of Rs. 415.48 crore has been provided to 85,815 beneficiaries of all categories. He said that the scheme for poor Scheduled Caste families will be restarted from September 25, 2026.
Shri Krishan Kumar Bedi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, the state government is continuously working for the economic and social upliftment of the Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. The benefits of various welfare schemes like Mukhya Mantri Viya Shagun Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Samajik Samarasta Antarjati Viya Shagun Yojana, Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students and Mukhya Mantri Yuva Pratibha Protsahan Yojana are being extended to the deserving people.
He said that the government has decided to celebrate the birth anniversaries of saints at the government level under the Sant Mahapurush Samman Prachar-Pasar Yojana. The aim of this is to spread the teachings and ideas of saints and honor their contributions.
