Patiala: Hundreds of teachers from aided schools in Punjab, maintaining their strong faith in democracy, are fully prepared to perform their duties in the upcoming Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections in Punjab.
Ashwani Madan, Harvinder Pal and Anil, regional leaders of the Punjab Aided School Teachers and Other Employees Union, said that the Punjab government is treating aided schools very step-motherly and hundreds of aided school teachers and other employees in Punjab have not received any salaries for the past eight months.
Approximately 1,700 aided school employees in Punjab are currently facing severe economic hardship due to the Punjab government's flawed policies. Despite this, when the Election Commission assigned hundreds of aided school employees across Punjab to election duty for the upcoming Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad elections, they happily and diligently performed their duties, expressing their faith in democracy.
It is also worth mentioning that the Punjab government has not released the salaries (grant-in-aid) of teachers and other employees of these schools since April 2025. The Punjab unit of the union strongly demands that the Punjab government immediately release the salaries of all teachers and other employees, which have been withheld without any fault, in recognition of the services rendered by these 1,700 employees in raising the level of education in Punjab.
