Chandigarh, March 9:– Haryana’s Minister for Soldiers and Paramilitary Welfare Rao Narbir Singh said that the Defence Ministry has approved opening of Sainik School on PPP mode in Matanhel village of Jhajjar district. For this, a resolution to transfer 60 acres of land has to be passed by the Gram Panchayat.
Rao Narbir Singh was speaking in the House today in response to a question asked by MLA Geeta Bhukkal during the Question Hour during the ongoing Budget Session in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He informed the House that in the year 1987, the then Chief Minister Late Devi Lal had announced to open Sainik School in Matanhel. After this, this demand remained pending till the year 2024. During this, former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala had written to the Defence Minister once and former Chief Minister Manohar Lal had written to him twice, demanding the opening of Sainik Schools.
He said that currently Sainik School Kunjpura (Karnal) and Sainik School Rewari are running in Haryana. He said that despite Haryana being a small state, there is a special enthusiasm and passion among the youth here to join the army. Keeping this in mind, the Defence Ministry has now approved the opening of Sainik School on PPP mode in Matanhel.
Rao Narbir Singh said that the rules for the local village for admission in Sainik Schools are fixed as per the rules of the Defence Ministry. He also said that the government will also consider the issue raised by the Honorable MLA of providing employment to local people in Group-D.
