Karnal, November 27: MP Deepender Hooda attended several events in Karnal today. He stated that both of our players did not die in road accidents, but rather lost their lives while practicing in stadiums that were victims of government neglect. The BJP government is responsible for this. The BJP government should apologize to the players for not building new stadiums, let alone repairing existing ones, in 11 years.
He demanded that the families of both players, Hardik and Aman, receive justice, a permanent government job for one member, and financial assistance of at least ?1 crore. A case of criminal negligence be filed against the officials responsible for not using the ?18.5 lakh (18.5 lakh) given by me from the MP fund for stadium maintenance, and strict action be taken.
Adequate budget should be allocated for the maintenance of all 481 sports stadiums built during the Congress-led Hooda government. Deepender Hooda said that it is unfortunate that the Indian government has allocated only ?80 crore from its ?3,500 crore sports budget to Haryana, a state known for its reputation as a mine of sports. This is an insult to our state's athletes and medals. It is unfair to give the state, which wins more than 50% of the medals in international competitions, the lowest budget in the country's sports budget.
Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda congratulated Karnal-based athlete Samrat Rana on winning the gold medal. He further stated that the state government's arrogant attitude has extinguished the hopes of two families. Despite repeated questions being raised about the dilapidated sports system, the government remained silent. The Chief Minister must take responsibility for this criminal negligence and provide justice to the families of Hardik and Aman. The BJP government has grossly neglected the interests of Haryana's athletes.
During the Congress government, the 3% sports quota in Group C and D was abolished. Players were denied promotions and cash awards from 2021 onwards. During the Congress government, junior, sub-junior, and youth game players were also given cash awards. The Congress-led Hooda government enacted the SPAT policy to promote sportspersons from Class 1 at the school level, which the BJP government eventually abolished.
Under the SPAT policy, SC girls were given an incentive of ?40,000 upon reaching the district/state level. This was also abolished by the BJP government. The Congress-led Hooda government built 481 sports stadiums, including international stadiums, across the state. However, in the last 11 years, the BJP government has ruined stadiums and sports nurseries across the state.
MP Deepender Hooda visited the residence of Yogendra Rana, grandson of former MLA Jaisingh Rana. He also visited the residence of District Councilor Ramphal Kamalpur to express his condolences. Former MLA Rakesh Kamboj, former MLA Dharampal Gondar, former MLA Bhimsen Mehta, former MLA Sumita Singh, former MLA Surendra Panwar, Karnal City Congress District President Parag Gaba, and others were present on the occasion.
