Ambala, June 3: During the month of May, the maternity wing of the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantt, echoed with the joy of newborn girls. Statistics show that more girls were born than boys in this hospital in May, indicating an improvement in the sex ratio in the region and suggesting that the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign is proving successful at the grassroots level.
Providing information, PMO of the Civil Hospital, Dr. Pooja Pantal, stated that women coming for childbirth are being provided with all kinds of modern and emergency medical facilities in the maternity department. She credited the excellent efforts of the hospital's doctors and para-medical staff for the continuous rise in safe delivery rates, noting that the number of girls has surpassed that of boys this year.
SMO of the hospital, Dr. Rachna Bansal, detailed the functioning of the gynecology ward, noting that it is fully equipped to handle normal deliveries as well as efficient Caesarean sections (LSCS) in complicated cases. She stated that the Haryana government is fully committed to maternal and child health. Under government rules, women are provided with a special nutritious diet allowance of 100 rupees per day during their hospital stay after every delivery.
Following improvements in infrastructure, the Ambala Cantt Civil Hospital is becoming the first choice for childbirth in the region. According to hospital administration, factors such as free medicines, free tests, a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), and government financial incentives have led families to trust the government hospital over expensive private alternatives. 
These encouraging figures for May not only reflect the vigilance of the health department but are also an important testament to the changing positive attitude of society towards daughters.
According to sources, only 2 more girls were born than boys in the month of May. Sources stated that 39 boys and 41 girls were born during the month.
