Ferozepur/Mamdot, August 3: Under the "Dengue Te Vaar" (Strike Against Dengue) campaign, and following the guidelines of Dr. Meenakshi Dhingra (Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur) and the directives of Dr. Harsh (Acting SMO, Mamdot), the Health Department of Mamdot conducted an awareness session at Government Middle School, Tibbi Kalan. During the session, Amarjit (BEE) informed the children that the dengue mosquito breeds exclusively in clean, stagnant water.
He explained that the disease can be easily prevented if water is not allowed to accumulate in or around our homes. He urged the children to encourage every citizen to observe Fridays as a "Dry Day" and to ensure that all coolers and trays are emptied and dried out.
Speaking on the occasion, Jazbir Singh (MPHW - Male) advised that to prevent dengue, water in coolers should be drained and the units thoroughly dried every Friday. He recommended wearing full-body clothing to avoid mosquito bites, installing mesh screens on doors and windows, and using mosquito nets or repellents while sleeping at night.
He further emphasized the need to prevent rainwater from collecting in scrap materials, tires, or empty containers lying on rooftops or in open areas. School Principal Bikramjit Singh, ASHA Facilitator Lachhmi Bai, and the school children were present at the event.
