Chandigarh, December 6- Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Naib Singh Saini on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting of important budget announcements of the Public Health and Engineering Department and gave clear instructions that the department should complete the pending projects on time. He said that the priority of the government is to provide the benefit of basic amenities to the public immediately and effectively, for this every officer should work with responsibility and readiness.
In the meeting, the officers informed the Chief Minister that the work of providing urban level drinking water and sewerage facilities in 12 selected villages under the Mahagram Yojana is in rapid progress. So far, the work of drinking water and sewerage network has been completed in Bhora Kalan (Gurugram), Bhanswal Kalan (Sonepat) and Khambi (Palwal). The remaining work in two more villages will be completed by December 31.
Along with this, the Chief Minister was also informed that 23 cities have been identified under the budget announcement for laying 150 km of new sewer lines in various cities.
The Chief Minister said that the government has a clear goal that to meet the increasing demand for drinking water, there should be no wastage of ground water and instead, maximum use of treated waste water should be promoted. He directed all the concerned departments to work in coordination and give priority to the recycling and reuse project.
It was informed in the meeting that the treated waste water generated from the STPs established in various cities by the Public Health and Engineering Department is being made available to the industrial units and the Irrigation Department, due to which the consumption of fresh water in both the industrial and agricultural sectors is being reduced.
The CM's announcements of the department were also reviewed in detail in the meeting and a progress report was presented. The Chief Minister directed that all the announcements should be completed on time, so that the benefits of the schemes reach the common citizens at the ground level. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Rajesh Khullar, Commissioner and Secretary of Public Health and Engineering Department, Shri Muhammad Shine and other senior officers.
